Rage Performance Boats is Hiring an Auto Body Repair Technician Near Port Jefferson Station, NY
We are seeking a skilled Boat Repair Technician with experience in auto bodywork to join our team. In this innovative role, you'll leverage your auto body expertise in the field of boat repair and maintenance. You will be responsible for repairing, restoring, and customizing boats, using your knowledge of vehicle bodywork to address unique challenges in marine environments. This role is dynamic and hands-on, requiring technical skills, adaptability, and a sharp eye for detail.
Duties
- Utilize hand and power tools to disassemble, assemble, and repair boat structures
- Adapt auto estimating skills to accurately assess damage and necessary repairs on boats
- Repair or replace damaged parts of boat hulls and structures
- Apply welding and fabrication skills to suit marine materials and conditions
- Perform mechanical repairs pertinent to marine engines and systems
- Prepare boat surfaces for painting, including sanding, masking, and priming
- Apply marine-grade paint and finishes to boats for a high-quality, durable finish
- Detail boats to ensure they are clean, polished, and presentable for clients
Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience as an Auto Body Technician, with eagerness to apply these skills to boat repair
- Proficiency in using a variety of hand tools and power tools
- Adaptability in applying auto body estimating techniques to marine repair work
- Experience with sheet metal repair and welding, adaptable to marine applications
- Mechanical skills, with a willingness to learn about marine engines and systems
- Familiarity with painting techniques and materials suitable for marine environments
- Strong attention to detail and dedication to producing high-quality, reliable work
